Dr. Roy presented at the 2023 DIAD Family Conference on gene editing. We will catch up with him and hear about how research is going.
About this event
If you heard Dr. Subhojit Roy from UCSD speak at the DIAN family conference last year, you heard firsthand about the amazing promise that exists around gene editing. Lucky for us, he is back, this time joining us via Zoom, to share the latest updates from the fast moving and inspiring field of research with our Youngtimers community.
The event will be moderated by Susan Hyatt, Ph.D.,
How CRISPR/gene editing technology creates new treatment possibilities for Alzheimer’s
About the speaker, Dr. Subhojit Roy
Dr. Subhojit Roy, MD, Ph.D., is a professor in the Departments of Pathology and Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on the cellular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Notably, Dr. Roy's lab (The Roy Lab) is developing CRISPR-based gene therapies aimed at modifying the amyloid precursor protein (APP) to reduce amyloid plaque formation, a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease.
This innovative approach has shown promise in preclinical models, offering potential for future therapeutic applications. Dr. Roy's contributions to neuroscience have been recognized through various awards and publications in leading scientific journals.
Event recap
